Part P Legislation
There has been much publicity about new legislation restricting the work that a person can carry out in their own home.
In January 2005 the government introduced a new Electrical Safety Law, which demands that most of the electrical work that is carried out in a home should only be carried out by a 'competent person'. This has been included in a new Part P of the building regulations.
If you are planning to extend or alter the electrical installation in your home, such as providing extra sockets in the kitchen, or adding new ceiling lights, don't attempt it yourself.
It is now a requirement that electrical work is notified to your local building control office before the work commences. This is not only costly, it is very time consuming and can take several weeks before approval is received.
Contact BAR Electrical. Because we are registered with the NICEIC we are able to undertake the work immediately. We issue a certificate to you upon completion and ensure that building control are notified that we have left your electrcial installation in a safe condition. There are no forms for you to fill in, and no additional costs.
